Seems like we need a Plan B for our visit to the Paradise! If we will be allowed to enter it at all! The government over there is acting like a cranky St Peter who's having a bad hair day and is not allowing anyone into Heaven until his hairdresser arrive. Yes, we can go yay!!, no wait... no we can't boooh... no no,.... maybe? To cut a long story short there's so many rumours around about the government closing all access to Tibet that after 3 days of YES, no.. YES YES... no no no... YES! we decided to think about a plan B just in case our list of sins will prevent us to join the celestial company this year.
Now, the pickle is that the flight to KTM is non refundable, and we really look forward to visiting Nepal, but we cannot schedule any trek since it will be monsoon season and with Steve's injury it's really not a good idea to do anything that will keep us away from eventual medical assistance. Where to go then? Since we're both used to the heat we might think about India, the flights from KTM to Delhi are cheap and frequent and we could arrange to get an Indian visa at the embassy in KTM. By coincidence the agency we are supposed to go to Tibet with is also organising trips to the Golden Triangle... so why not?
Luckily we both love to travel! We're now excited about this new development and already looking into things to do and see that will fit into the Plan B. I've already been to India, but this time we could visit some new place like Jaipur and Khajurao and I would love to take Steve to Varanasi!
It would also mean less hassle concerning high altitude and more possibilities to back up our photos into an external HD (not possible in Tibet because of the thinness of the air). We only have one week to go and it feels as if we now have to concentrate readings and studies we would normally spread in a couple of months into 7 days... so off I go!
It is indeed an adventure, knowing that you're leaving in 7 days but you don't know where you'll end up :)
