Well, I don't know what the difference is but it seems like Tibet is going to be closed from the 25th of June till the 25th of July but between now and the 25th of June they won't allow any foreign tourist in the country.... seems to me like it's exactly the same thing but then again, what do I know about bureaucracy... I'm just Italian.... we don't have any bureaucracy in Italy do we?
Anyway.
Plan B is on ladies and gentlemen!! For the time being we know that we'll be flying to Kathmandu and then we'll see :)
There's talk about a tour in Rajasthan, or maybe the Golden Triangle, or maybe even Bhutan or who knows, Sikkim, Darjeeling... the possibilities are actually more than a few, not to count the whole week we will be spending in Nepal prior to leaving for the second part of our holidays!
Does that sound as if I'm overly enthusiastic about this to compensate the fact that we won't be going to Tibet? Probably, but we are seasoned travellers and we know that things don't always go as you want, it wouldn't do us any good to curse our bad luck and waste the 4 weeks we have ahead of us, we're going to a wonderful country, Nepal, one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen in my life and we should be grateful that we even get to do that! Anything else we might end up doing will be exciting and the experience of not having everything already planned and prepared to the last details is in itself an experience that every traveller should make!
The good thing is that we won't have to pack our down jackets, I already had a problem fitting them in our backpacks! Although if we're going to Sikkim we might need them....
